 Seeds of Civility

                  Expectations
 (I have them)

Classroom Expectations

  • Do Unto Others - act as you wish to be acted upon.
  • Bring Positivity - we all feed off each others emotions, bring a nurturing emotion and leave the poison at the door.
  • Communicate - No one likes surprises. I won't assign stuff at the very last minute and you won't tell me you need more time at the very last minute. We'll get along just fine.
  • Ask - if you need help, if you don't understand something, if you just need another perspective on something... just ask.

Online Etiquette

  • Keep messages short. Think about how you can use the least amount sentences to get your idea across.
  • Sarcasm is risky business. If you are being sarcastic and someone doesn't get it, you (and I) have no one to blame but you. "I was being sarcastic" will never be an acceptable excuse.
  • Be polite. We need more polites.
  • Do not use abusive or insulting messages. If someone has insulted you, having a flame war with them is not going to make the situation better. Talk to me about it and we'll make it stop.
  • Don't spam.

Online Safety

  • Keep your personal information personal. Don't share phone numbers, addresses, schedule, etc.
  • Practices Safe Browsing. You need your computer for this class. Don't put it at risk by browsing sketchy web sites.
  • Choose Strong Passwords. Assume someone is going to try to guess your password. If they knew you, what words might they try as your password?  Don't use those words.
  • Be careful what you post. Assume what you post is going to be seen by everyone everywhere forever.
